Wild Ideas for the Future
On this page, I am collecting some "blue sky fantasies"
that may or may not be the future of wireless networking.
Ultra-Wideband Pulse Modulation
Shifting things between the time domain and the frequency
domain has always been a way to gain hitherto impossible
performance through a new understanding of the problem
space. Just think of how telephone modems were improved
by adaptive echo canceling, allowing simultaneous use of the
full bandwidth in both directions simultaneously.
The links in this section point to innovative people
who claim to have found similar breakthroughs in wireless
data. Unfortunately, it appears to me that they have traded
a different set of problems for the known ones. For example,
picosecond time synchronization.
