Introduction to the Theory of Spread Spectrum Communications

Most wireless data systems today are spread spectrum modulated, operating in the ISM (Industrial, Scientific and Medical) bands at 900 MHz, 2.4GHz or 5.8GHz.

Spread spectrum modulation was invented by the Austrian-born actress Hedy Lamarr and composer George Antheil in 1942, but did not become commercially used until the 1960s.

Hedy Lamarr died in January 2000.
